As a busy insurance professional, you may have come to the same conclusion that those agents above had about pre qualified leads. People should be ready to meet with you, want what you have to offer, and meet the minimum requirements,  right?  I mean, if they were pre qualified, they should be high quality right?

 

That would be nice. . .

 

Prequalified Leads, pre qualified leads

Pre qualified leads are actually more abundant than you might first think.  They are leads where the respondent or participant meet certain requirements defined by the lead source.  Usually, the requirements are set forth before initial contact, not at the time of the responses.  This generally means that the “list” was pre qualified, or that the people “qualified themselves” through a response card, a survey, or some other means prior.  This does not always mean that when you meet with someone, they will be pre qualified.  It simply means that they “fit” the qualifications prior to contact.

 

This doesn’t mean that they are wasted leads.  You are sitting in front of them right?  They are people with needs, people who know people with needs, and people who can access people with needs.  They are only wasted if you waste the opportunity.  If you seize the opportunity, who knows what you might get out of that appointment.

If you fully understand what a lead is, and have realistic expectations on what a lead can do for you, you can be successful at any lead program (see Agents Keys to Success).  When you have unrealistic expectations, any and all lead programs with fail now and in the future.
