Many field marketing organizations offer their agents additional marketing programs and leads.  They may offer annuity leads for signing up with their carriers, or pre set annuity appointments through production.  They may even offer marketing reimbursements for those agents who have their own program or from another third party.

Ongoing lead programs that are earned through production have the same elements to success as any other lead program, just some one else is flipping the bill.  The important thing to remember is that they aren't really free.  The FMO is paying money to send out mailers, set appointments or provide you with marketing.  They expect something in return, production.

 

This arrangement can be beneficial if the agent remembers that these leads are not free.  Once they feel that they are free, the agent looses focus and the pressure is off to perform, after all it is not their money that is on the line.  When this happens, the lead program usually fails.

 

The key to this type of program is to get into the habit of treating every single lead that come to you like it is solid gold.  It does not matter who paid for it, it is a chance for you to succeed, gain a new client, and make a commission.

Working a program provided by a carrier or a marketing organization offers agents a way to expand their business without the out of pocket costs.  But, it only works if they treat it as though they did pay for it and that their future does depend on the outcome of the program.

 

Anything less, and the program will fail.
